Corfe Mullen Cricket Club

Welcome to the Corfe Mullen Cricket Club website. Corfe Mullen is a friendly Dorset cricket club who play league cricket and also hold regular social events throughout the year. Our home games are played at Corfe Mullen recreation ground where we have two all weather pitches and a grass square.

Corfe Mullen currently run two Saturday teams in the Dorset Cricket League.  The 1st XI play in Division 1 and the 2nd XI play in Division 5. There is also a Sunday XI playing in Division 3 of the Dorset Cricket League. In addition we also field a team in the mid-week Wimborne Evening League. In the off-season, the club plays in Division 1 of the Indoor Cricket League held at the Dorset Cricket Centre. Indoor net sessions are held from March until the beginning of the season. During the season weekly outdoor training is held on Thursday evenings at 18:30. In 2010, these sessions will begin on the 15th of April and go until the 26th of August.

The club also a has a vibrant junior section. At junior level, we field an Under 11 team, U12, U13 and an U14 side. Youth training is held on Friday evenings throughout the season and is taken by ECB qualified coaches. In 2010 this will begin on the 30th of April and run through to the 30th of July. These sessions will start at 18:30 and run through to between 19:30 and 20:00 depending on the light. All are welcome,

The club is always looking for new players of all ages and abilities both male and female. As well as players we are also looking for anyone who would like to help with umpiring or scoring. Anyone interested in joining the club or finding out more should contact the Vice Chairman:

The inagural Corfe Mullen Cricket Club 20/20 cup and BBQ took place on the August Bank Holiday Monday to bring the 2009 season to a close. The Cup was contested by a Chairman's IX and a Corfe Mullen IX with the match, featuring musical accompaniment in true 20/20 style, providing great entertainment for the large gathering of spectators. The post match BBQ was also enjoyed by all and because of the overall sucess, the event is set to become the annual end to the playing season.

The Chairman's IX batted first and lost two early wickets including the Chairman himself bowled first ball! Despite this however,  they were able to post a formidable 222 for 4 thanks to a rapid 50 from the big hitting Toby Shortland and a more measured 79 not out from young Rich Withrington who carried his bat through the innings.

The Corfe Mullen reply also started badly, losing both openers quickly. However the game was turned on its head by a brutal century from Dan Flooks who was able to capitalize on the short boundaries. He was well supported by Duncan Wood before Courtney Johnstone and Mike Jordan saw Corfe home with 11 balls to go.

Player of the tournament went to Rich Withrington for his unbeaten 79.
